Scholarship Application Instructions
The Hillsborough Education Foundation Scholarship Catalog contains a listing of college and technical award offerings. Each scholarship is unique and has different criteria.
Cash Scholarships: Who is eligible
- Graduating high school seniors in a Hillsborough County Public School (HCPS). Several are for high school seniors who will pursue particular majors or those graduating from a specific high school, or seeking to enroll at a particular college.
- Public school students who are registered at the Adult Technical Centers
- There are also scholarships specifically designed for Hillsborough County Public School employees
Florida PrePaid Scholarship: Who is eligible
- Public school students that are in 6th - 10th grades
- Must be eligible for free and reduced school lunch program
- Must sign an agreement to stay in school while remaining drug and crime free
- Must maintain a minimum GPA 2.5
- Student will agree to meet with a mentor once a week at the school site
- If selected, a copy of income tax 1040 statement / proof of income will be required
- If selected, a copy of students' Social Securtiy Card will be required before graduation
The Hillsborough Education Foundation scholarship application process has multiple steps. In these steps we will assist you in supplying all of the required information for a scholarship. At the end of the application process you will be presented with a list of scholarships for which you may be eligible.
To ensure success in applying for one or more of these scholarships, it is important to follow these directions:
- Your application is updated and saved each time you move from one step to the next. You can exit at any time and return at a later date using the Open Saved Application link to edit and/or complete your application.
- Your School student ID number is your login.
- A GPA calculator has been added for students that do not know thier GPA, you can enter your letter grade from the last 9 weeks to calculate your GPS.
- You application will be locked for edits once the application deadline has passed.
- Throughout the application, required input fields are marked with an *. You will not be able to advance to the next screen until these required inputs are supplied.
- Provide as many specific details about awards, activities and extracurricular activities as you can. Note length of time and related information for each activity.
- Because several scholarships require students to major in a specific program, list your planned major(s) or program(s) of study. Up to two majors can be listed. If possible, select your major(s) from the provided dropdown list.
- List colleges, universities and/or technical schools to which you have applied, are applying, and/or have accepted you for admission.
- If any of the scholarships which you have elected to apply for have special essays associated with them, you will be asked to supply these essays at the final step of your application.
- Student must complete the FAFSA and a copy of the Students Financial Aid letter from the college/university they are planning to attend must be submitted after selection to assure financial need.
Incomplete Application Packets Will Not Be Considered
To be considered complete, an application must include the following items:
- One personal statement which includes 2 questions to be answered (part of online application)
- One letter of recommendation except for the Derek Jeter and John Lynch Scholarships which require two letters (deliver to school guidance counselor/college career counselor)
- Specific materials listed in each scholarship offering
