Scholarship Application Instructions for Seniors Scholarships
Important Information:
- You must be a Graduating High School Senior to apply for these Scholarships
- The Hillsborough Education Foundation Scholarship Catalog contains a listing of college and technical award offerings. Each scholarship is unique and has different criteria.
- The Cash scholarship application process is open from November 2, 2011 to January 11, 2012 at 5:00 pm.
- ALL students selected to receive a scholarship will be required to complete the FAFSA and a copy of the Students Financial Aid letter from the college/university they are planning to attend must be submitted after selection.

Eligibility:
- Graduating high school seniors enrolled in a Hillsborough County Public School (HCPS). Several scholarships are for high school seniors who will pursue particular majors or those graduating from a specific high school, or seeking to enroll at a particular college.
- Public school students who are registered at the Adult Technical Centers
Instruction:
- To ensure success in applying for one or more of these scholarships, it is important to read the instructions carefully.
- Your 7 digit School Student ID number is your login to Open Saved Application
- The Hillsborough Education Foundation scholarship application process has multiple steps. In these steps we will assist you in supplying all of the required information for a scholarship. At the end of the application process you will be presented with a list of scholarships for which you may be eligible.
Step 1 - Complete all of the sections of the application
- Complete all sections of the application. (Biographical Data, Educational Info, Basic Activities, Extra Activities, College Info and Additional Questions).
- A GPA calculator has been added for students who do not know their GPA; you can enter your letter grades from the last 9 weeks to calculate your GPA.
- Throughout the application, required input fields are marked with an *. You will not be able to advance to the next step until these required inputs are supplied.
- Answer ALL of the Additional Questions.
- Provide as many specific details about awards, activities and extracurricular activities as you can. Note length of time and related information for each activity.
- Because several scholarships require students to major in a specific program, list your planned major(s) or program(s) of study. Up to two majors can be listed. If possible, select your major(s) from the provided dropdown list.
- List colleges, universities and/or technical schools to which you have applied, are applying, and/or have accepted you for admission.
- At the bottom of each page you can choose one of the following options:
- “Continue” - this will take you to the next page (tab) on the application. You may also click on each Tab across the top to go to each of the pages.
- “Save & Submit later” - click to save your work and return at a later time to complete the application. Your application is updated and saved each time you move from one step to the next. You can exit at any time and return at a later date using the Open Saved Application link to edit and/or complete your application.
- “Save & Continue” - As you complete each step you will click on Save & Continue to go to the next step in the application process.
Step 2 - Review Eligible Scholarships:
- After you have completed the application and click “Save & continue”, you will be given an opportunity to review your application. Once you are happy with your application click “Save & continue”.
- You will be presented with a list of scholarships for which you may be eligible. Click on each scholarship to see the specific requirements for that scholarship. If you do not wish to apply for a specific scholarship, click on the check mark beside the scholarship to uncheck.
Step 3 - Complete Required Personal Statement/Essay Questions
- All students are required to complete 2 Personal Statement/Essay Questions (see below). Note that some scholarships may require additional essay questions.
- We suggest you write your essay and have someone proof read your work before inputting it into the online application. A spell checker is available.
- To be considered complete; an application must include the following items:
- One personal statement which includes 2 questions to be answered (part of online application)
- Please explain in your personal statement the most character building experience of your life and explain the influence that this experience has had on your character. Some scholarships may ask that you also include other information in the personal statement.
- Please describe in 350 words or less the most important characteristics of a great leader and explain why such characteristics lead to effective leadership.
- If any of the scholarships you have elected to apply for have special essays associated with them, you will be asked to supply these essays at the final step of your application.

Step 4 - Save & Submit:
- After you have completed your application, click on SAVE & SUBMIT so your application will be accepted for review. All applications must be SAVED & SUBMITTED by 5:00 pm on January 11, 2012. Your application will be locked for edits once the application deadline has passed. NO exceptions.
Incomplete Application Packets Will Not Be Considered
PLEASE NOTE: Application process will open November 2, 2011 close January 11, 2012 at 5:00pm
